Goiser isn't a decoration. Goiserbis the real stuff. Strong and heavy looking. Some people just love its beauty - just like me. I made plenty for myself.

If you mean regular welt = Goodyear construction (there are more, like pegged, german etc), goodyear is a little bit more dressy. Goiser cannot really be considered dressy..

For those of us interested in construction, but are too young to know anything else besides Goodyear and Blake, is the Goiser welt just another name for the Norwegian welt? Also, I've read that the Norwegian welt is the same thing as the split reverse welt and storm welt. Storm welts I'm familiar with, but all this other stuff about Goiser, Norwegian, and split reverse I'm not. Are they just different names for the same thing?

Well, obviously there are different versions of goiser, and the construction, you have mentioned. The technique, what we (Austrian, German and Hungarian and I believe plenty more countries) call goiser came from goisernbad, where a local shoemaker didn't find his hiking boots strong enough. Maybe the same happened with some Norwegian in the storm?

Also, just to clarify - so are you saying storm welts and Norwegian construction are different things? I ask only because storm welts, I believe, do have welts (which is the thing on the outside, attaching the sole to the upper, to keep out water).
