Please help authenticate this Patek Phillippe watch.

I apologize if this is mis-catagorized, but I couldn't find another place to post this. I purchased this watch from a Hollywood props dealer for $65 a week or so ago. I know the big studios spend ridiculous amounts of money on clothing and such from Barney's, Neiman Marcus, etc so I took a gamble on this watch after seeing only one pic of the watch. Kinda stupid move on my part. It's definitely not mint and has been worn. The back case looks nothing like other Pateks I've seen, but the band is indeed real leather and the case does have some weight to it, definitely not a cheap aluminum case like most knock-offs have. Sorry for my terrible photos, but I just took them to see if someone can tell me if this is an obvious knock-off or not, as I'm not a watch expert by any means. The most high-end watch I've ever held was a Hamilton. The crown has the logo on it. Tried to get a shot of that but it wouldn't come out.

In all seriousness, the markings on the back case are cheap looking.

As with any watch, it needs to be serviced. Bring it to a good watch repair person and you will know in two shakes of a lambs tail.

Most likely fake.

Open it up, you will know in 2 seconds when you see the movement.

99% likely to be a knockoff but you should just open the back and find out.

Problem is the screws on the back casing are tiny and I don't have a screw-driver small enough. Even my eye-glasses screw-driver is too big.

Well, get it open. It is the only way to really know. However, that has all the hallmarks of being fake.

Is it manual-wind or automatic? If neither and a quartz), definitely fake.

The markings on the caseback are highly suspect. If it were really 18k then the metal alone would be worth a lot more than $65 even if the dealer had no idea what a Patek was.

The other thing that bothers me are the chips on the caseback. That implies that the case is plated, and not solid metal. Even if it were stainless (which the markings suggest isn't the case), it shouldn't do that. I don't know of PP ever making gold plated watches of any kind, but perhaps a long time ago (like before all watches used sapphire crystals, which this one clearely lacks, given the extensive scratches).

This watch can't be that old as black dials became popular in the 70s-80s when sapphire crystals were already in use. In addition, PP does not make any type of plated watch.

OP, when you put it on your ear, do you hear an engine running? If not, it is quartz and most certainly a fake.

looks fake to me especialy the beveling around the dial doesnt look right get a glasses or precision screwdriver they are usualy small enough
also is there a logo on the watch buckle if not = fake

Watch repair store/ ANY jewelery store.

They might charge you $5-20 to open it up and tell you if its real or not but you can go to ANY jewelry or jewelry repair shop and they will tell you.

Why don't you tell us where you got it?
That should pretty much answer the question with 99% accuracy.

Or, if sounds aren't your thing, does the second hand sweep continuously, or does it stop each second. If the latter, a quartz and a fake.

Patek - Aside from everything else, does the crown bother you? Just doesn't look like something that would be on a PP, at least not in my experience.

the poor stitching and mis aligned holes on the band look suspect.

the crystal is scratched up which means its not sapphire - as far as i know patek doenst use anything but sapphire
