Are you interviewing with people who already know you? If so, dressing more formally than you usually do would seem unnecessary to me and I usually advocate over-dressing for an interview.

It sounds like you work with the people you will be interviewing with, so I would suggest matching what you expect theor clothes to be. I would fear that dressing in a suit when everyone knows you don't usually, and everyone knows that no one else is going to be suited up, might come off poorly.

I suppose a lot depends on your office dynamic and what the position is, though.

This is the case. I see these people daily and no one here wears a suit.

Maybe I will just get my shoes polished, pants pressed, etc. and forego the suit.

Quick question about italian sizing. Specifically jackets, even more specifically Boglioli and possibly Lubiam. I normally wear size 46/48 ("average" sizing).What are the chances that an italian size 50 will fit me? I'm mainly concerned about the shoulders.

What does one look for in a quality tie?

Is it sturdy? Can it hold a dimple when tied?

Does anyone have any experience with the ASOS Black brand of shirts. A couple look nice (or at least nice to someone who has no idea about clothes - i.e Me) but I'm not sure of the quality of the shirts compared to the cost.

For me it's quality of materials and workmanship. Feel the tie. If it is silk is should be smooth and not feel bumpy in any way. It should be thick and if you fold it in an area it should spring back without a crease. Workmanship may be a little harder to discern, but if the materials are good, chances are the workmanship will be as well.

Shop for ties wherever your tastes dictate. If you are conservative, look to Brooks Brothers or J. Press for perfectly fine everyday ties. For more of a country gentleman look try various Ralph Lauren lines. Upscale department stores (Barney's, Saks, or Bergdorf Goodman) will have a broad range at a range of prices.

Under $50 at full retail is sometimes hard, but that is why there are sales and outlets. Look around to see what you like and swoop in at sale time. You can also try your luck at e-bay once you find makers you like.
