I know. I"m new to this game, just trying to see what I should change to make things a little better. I would think the weakest part of this fit is the shoes (I mean, the sweater/pants aren't exactly exciting, but I don't think they are bad). What kind of shoes would fit good in something like this? Do sneakers look alright or should I be looking at something else?

And assuming you don't have $350 to spend on a pair of trainers, even a simple pair of Vans would be better than those.

Then hem those trousers and get a plain, simple crew neck that fits.

yeah $350 is outta my league. would addidas GATs or sambas look alright? or should I get something even simpler than that? As far as a crew neck that fits, I'm not exactly sure what I should look for. I realize this one is long in the body and sleeves, but I feel like sizing down would make it too tight in the chest/stomach...

i think what they mean mikey is start with plain basics first i.e. navy sweater instead of the stripes and some white vans (or CPs as someone suggested) -- a clean palette first.

And then when you got your aesthetic toward a direction you like, start branching out. Emphasis on what you like. Then when you perhaps lurked enough and see what people usually post and find that your look may imitate someones, then perhaps post for critique.

But TBH, people here are not going to be too friendly in helping if your current aesthetic is pretty ordinary outside of this forum.
