Shoe Shining Creases

I have a pair of C&J Wigmores that are less than 6 months old...

When I first got them they were a sort of tan or very light brown. Well, when it came time to shine them I used Saphir products that I'd never used prior: Renovatuer and then their light brown polish.

Now they are noticeably darker, yet the creases on the vamp look a slight shade lighter than the rest of the shoe. The upshot is they are way more noticeable then they were pre-shine. Look a little more crack-like too.

Does anyone know of a good way of evening out the color and/or making the creases less noticeable?

You really need to post pictures, but are you using shoe trees?

Lighter creases is totally normal. Using any creams on light leather will darken them, there is no way around that. The only thing you can try to do is re-apply some of the cream to the creased area and rub it in a bit harder, let it sit a while then buff it.

Agreed.
If I may add, you could periodically apply a leather conditioner and no polishes at all,
though you would have to accept that any scuffing would be more noticeable without polish.
Also make sure that you are not using a brush that was previously used on darker shoes because that colour will come off on the next pair brushed.

Thanks for the replies. I use shoe trees, so that's not an issue.

I'll guess I'll just try to put some of the renovateur and cream/polish as best I can into the creases. Work 'em in with a brush I suppose, unless there are better suggestions.

I'll post pics this evening.

Update: Shoes look great now, the a little dab of the renovatuer worked in the creases evened everything out. The color is only now ever so slightly darker than the original tan -- handsome chestnut-y actually.
