Can a slim fit dress shirt fit too slim?

Hmmm...the thread title makes me ponder how much wood a wood chuck can...never mind.

I like slim fit shirts. I have a very large chest and most shirts big enough in the chest to avoid popping my buttons happen to blouse more in the waist than I like. Brooks Brothers Slim Fit dress shirts, for example, feel swimmingly large to me. The salesman assured me I don't want to go slimmer. I suspect he's just being a salesman.

That said, how slim is "too slim" in a dress shirt? Must the shirt blouse noticeably at the waist for its wearer to avoid garnering comments at the office?

I really admire the look of Eric Bana in Munich (at bottom of this post and also a similar shot at http://image.toutlecine.com/photos/m...-2005-62-g.jpg ) His chest is fairly flat compared to mine, but still, would that look work today?

just get a shirt that fits well in your chest and get it darted so that its also fitted in the waist. Or use one of the many online custom shirt makers. www.biasedcut.com makes a good one.

I can vouch for biased cut. Just ordered another few shirts, will do a comparison of slim/normal fit in a few weeks when i get them.

wow...that is quite creepy...but I assume the pic I posted falls quite short of this look to the average eye

The shirt in the pic you posted looks okay to my eye, but the RLPL shirts look too slim, especially for a business setting.

The models are too skinny. Their thin torsos make their heads look disproportionately big. Eerie and effeminate.

I have shirts that I've had taken in that might be too tight in the chest.
I get a "ruffling" of the placket that just seems bizarre.
I feel like a composer, or something.
Still, this blows away baggy sails.

The whole slim fit shirt are best pulled off by trim/slender people.

If you have the body for it, don't be scared to go for it.

no, that shirt looks good on you. it is just a tad looser than the RLPL in the pictures. my concern would be about mobility and comfort. It looks great but are you able to move your arms around without it pulling across your chest?
