The few photos i've seen of the inside are just as bad. The ballroom that supposedly competes with Versailles is an eyesore. It looks like something you'd see at a Hilton hotel, except with a crystal chandelier covering the entire ceiling.

Maybe the inside is nice, but from the outside, it's sure not much to look at... Some actually compared it to the palace of versailles...

It's just a status statement, that's all. Building it right in the center of the slums wreaks of a "****-you" attitude! Imagine how many of these poor people that money could have fed, clothed and educated!

Well fed, educated poor people are dangerous - especially to billionaires.

I think it's in a good neighborhood, isn't it?

While many people of excessive wealth like to pretend they are normal plebs, this guy is totally comfortable stating that he is in fact better than the rest of us and will not wade in mediocrity to appease those seeking political correctness. Or food.

I think it was a great idea, but the execution was very poor.

I really don't understand why people keep complaining about rich people not giving away their money to poor people for free. Why should anyone give money away for free, just because they have more than someone else? In my opinion, while this project is very ugly, it has probably done a lot of good for poor people as well. Imagine all the workers directly and indirectly involved in a huge 1 billion dollar project. That means that poor people learn more skills while they EARN money and feed their families. This is all possible because this one man decided to go through with this huge 1 billion dollar idea.

Yes, the country is in fact (in a small way), better off for having someone spend 1 billion on developing a project. The taxes and cost of maintenance will benefit a great many poor people. I hope other elites in the country do it as well.

I also think that people here on this forum complaining about wealth disparity are completely unaware of their circumstance and the incredible irony of the situation.

Apparently the interior was designed by a company who does hotel design, which explains the gaudy luxury chain-hotel look of the place.

My other thought is this...$2 billion later and you still have a home in Bombay.
