I'm intrigued by them because they look similar enough to the Indy's, yet in a way, they don't.

Has anyone seen waterlock soled longwings for sale? Winn-perry seemed to be the only guys carrying them but they're sold out of the lower sizes (I'm an 8). Failing that, a good price on double soled long wings in general? If it comes down to it I guess I can get a Jcrew longwing but I'd feel a bit of a rube paying $20 over the Winn Version for crews standard version.

Would the life of Alden Indy boots be significantly affected if worn through Chicago winters?

^^ I doubt it, you may need to wear them every three days (or as long as it takes for them to dry completely inside) instead of the standard every other day. Some leathers (such as kudu) are nearly indestructible so they will last a couple of years minimum. Also while shell cordovan is very expensive, it seems like it can handle rough wear with protection such as sno-seal from what I've been reading on Crane's thread about the Wolverine boots. The protection will darken the boots it seems but it may be worth considering.

Brown and natural.

The natural looks really good. I called to see if they had any in stock in my size, but no luck. Now I am stuck on an e-mail list hoping they do another order and let me do a preorder in my size, which is an unusual 5.5E on the Barrie Last. I hope they do.
