Ferre's recent collections use all kinds of exotic materials and they've positioned themselves as one of the most $$$ RTW brands (more than Gucci/Prada/Valentino/LV, less slightly than Hermes or Chanel but in that range). I read once they considered their level between RTW and Couture, in terms of materials/pricing. I wondered about the hide as well, but it also doesn't look like calf. They had bags made of everything from seal, elephant, etc. so I was curious... As well, it's from the recent (last year or so) Ferre mainline collection, which has basic small leather bags north of $3k. These were the seasons with the Scafora shoes, the $12k leather jackets. etc. I should have been clearer in my post, as I'm not recommending anyone buy it, especially at that price... just saying that it's quite a suitcase that you don't/won't see often.

I think it was linked to earlier in the thread - I don't think it's SAB

Wow. When they had a NYC shop, Lobb used to put crepe soles on all kinds of shoes, but this is new to me. It is the original sole though: note the Lobb Paris logo on the bottom.

It doesn't look like any ostrich I have; the feather follicle (?) seems way too prominent. Maybe the tanning process is different now that it's not a SA monopoly?
