i took a suit jacket to LNC today to get the sleeves shortened and the waist taken in a bit. he quoted me $65 which sounds like a good deal? i never had alterations done before so i don't know. hopefully everything comes out alright.

stopped by today because i wasn't sure about the sleeves. to my surprise, he already put in basting stitches and the sleeve length looks great.

to people who have gone to LNC, does he press the jacket after finishing the alterations?

is a $15 tip reasonable?

I've been there a few times and have never tipped... I honestly had no clue that was the norm.

He took in my suit jacket and shortened the sleeves - did a pretty good job.

His prices are very reasonable.

Anyone else tip here? I don't mind tipping, just never heard of tipping the tailor.

I'll usually tip a little to tailors. If they quote $55 I'll just give them $60 for example. Can never hurt!

Searched this thread for tailors wayy downtown (i.e. financial district, tribeca) - Haven't seen any posts for that area. Any recommendations?

How about Hoboken, anyone have any experiences there?

Stanton does great work, be advised that the wait is about a month right now.

If you can walk a block out of tribeca, G&G on grand between W broadway and Thompson is very good and fast for simple work.

Though for some reason I can't figure out, they charge an extra $5 for 2" cuff vs 1.5". Maybe someone can explain this.
