Can I get some current recommendations for a quality clothes steamer? I am looking for something compact that can travel. Anything new out there for 2010-2011?

My mom, being my mom, bought something called My Little Steamer from home shopping, because it came with a free mini steamer. Again, my mom, being my mom lacked the arm strength to easily use the full-sized steamer when filled with water, so she gave it to me.

The full-size is still small enough to travel with, and they're stupidly cheap.

I tried a travel clothes steamer several times over the years and tossed it. It took up room in my luggage and I found I really didn't need it. Hanging clothes up upon arrival and hanging them in the bathroom while taking a hot shower took out any wrinkles.

I say try it if you want but you may not really need one.

I use an iron that produces a lot of steam. I've never tried a steamer.

I can't comment or recommend any current makes of steamers, but I do recommend them.

The only issue is unless you find a nice, compact one - they're kind of unsightly. Or unless you have a nice out of the way place to store it.

But very useful. I use them to get increased wear out of my work slacks. Put them on the hanger as they would come from the dry-cleaner and spend 3-5 minutes giving them a steam. Wrinkles gone and will probably give you an extra 3-4 wears per slacks between trips to the dry cleaner.

Works on a lot of garments from my experience, except certain button down shirts with stubborn wrinkles that only the dry cleaner can handle.

They work nice on sleeves and backs.

Do you currently have one that you use at home? I have thought about getting one in the past but have never done it. -LR

No, I use a cleaner for most garments and wool jackets and pants aren't really a problem. I was also going to invest in a good steam dryer. I was really thinking for travel. Even wool can be a problem as I roll my jackets.

I found a link that said Jiffy was the best but it seems a bit large.

Jiffy ESTEAM is the way to go. I use mine all the time at home and when I travel.

Thanks. I don't need one for travel, but I was just thinking about getting one for my shirts and suits when they are not being sent to the cleaner.
