That looks great too...

Far from the estate agent garrot we see in England..

It's the only way I know how to tie a tie, and it always looks like the examples above....not cartoonish at all, and hardly the mark of a cad.

It hate it on principle - it was originally a vulgar attempt on the part of the American public in the late-30s to ape the moderately thick four-in-hand knots of the DoW, after whom it was named, and who never actually tied the 'windsor' - and also for the aesthetically jarring way the knot's bulbous, squat triangle contradicts the lithe vertical movement of the blade underneath. This applies not only to the 'double-windsor' but also to its many cousins united by their bulbous symmetry, including half-windor, pratt, shelby, etc (in my view they're just minor variations of the same style).

The Four-in-hand knot for the Four-in-hand necktie. There's a reason they share the same name.

Having said that, I understand why some men wear the windsor, it does have a certain appeal when expertly tied and fastidiously coordinated. But I refuse to accept that there are any circumstances under which it is actually necessary (even with wide collar spreads) and I think it always lacks a certain effortlessness and natural grace.

When I started medical school one of the tutors gave us a long list of things that were in/appropriate to do when on the hospital wards, which finished with "and don't wear a full Windsor knot". When someone ventured to ask why he stated flatly "because they're bloody ugly".

I was brought up to tie a half Windsor, I remember a post from someone else here saying that when he was in school the FIH was reserved for special ed kids who couldn't quite cope with anything else. Having said that I now often tie a FIH or double FIH, just depends on the tie or how I'm feeling. I don't do full Windsors personally but it can be done well.

I hate Windsor and full Windsor knots.

I doesn´t looks good on a tall skinny guy as me. And all the people that wears those in my country are nouveau riches , socialists politicians that want to impress ( always without the last button on as Felipe Gonzalez, the infamous expresident ) and some douches.

No dandy or aristocrat uses those.

I wonder why it´s so used on Germany by serious people.

Only a man who despises the Windsor knot so much can tie a decent one.

With a narrow tie the Windsor knot isn't so offensive. And the knot needs to be pulled tight, no big loose knots.

I thought the mark of a cad was not giving a reach-around?

All those bloody ugly full Windsor knots are ugly because the ties are bloody fat and bulging to begin with. A full Windsor on a slim tie looks good. It's a great way to create some structured formed on a slim look.
