Has anyone tried the henleys? They are cheap as hell right now and look pretty decent. Wondering if it is worth it to get one of those or spend $30 on the LLBean one which seems to get very good reviews.

Size down one from your shirt size in LEC. Not that great anyway. I got one that I forgot to return and I just wear it around my house on colder days.

No comment. My favorite Henley is one from Muji which fits a lot nicer.

The pockets flared out, added about an inch to your waist on either side. Someone reviewed them and called said it turned them into a pregnant woman - very accurate. Garbage. Ordered a size large heritage poplin buttondown shirt and I may as well have been wearing a sail. This thing fit HUGE. The length was so long you wouldn't be able to wear it untucked. Fit was unflattering. Construction looked on par with Gap stuff. For reference I am 6'1, 205lb... Large-XL in most brands. XXL in BoO. Both items are going back and I will not be ordering from them again. Thumbs down.
If you're an extra large in most clothing and don't have the height to match, you're going to look like rubbish anyway you split it. I honestly don't understand why you're so surprised with how the clothing looks.

I copped the Pattered Poplin shirt, and they feel much harder than the summer/spring one's. The were pulled from the LEC site, and I'm wondering if its because of the reason that I noted. I think they'll go back.

Dont think you understood...I ordered a size LARGE shirt from LEC and it fit extremely loose, bigger than any large or XL i've ever tried from any other brand. Just saying it's either extreme sizing inconsistencies or the heritage poplin shirt is huge. If that was the large, I could have fit into a small.

I fit into an H&M slim fit medium and I had to size down to a small for the shirts on LEC. Medium on LEC would have been like a tent for me.

Uhh then why dont you try the medium? Jeez

I love my red chambray and heritage poplin in saddle gingham. Went with medium in the chambray and small in heritage poplin as it fit bigger.

Because the medium will probably be too tight for him in the chest and shoulders.

I had the same problem, the LEC shirts fit me too tight in the chest and shoulders and billowed out on the bottom. The only shirts I kept were the flannels.

As far as chest/waist go, these would have to be sized down. However, this would only work if you are extremely thin and have narrow shoulders or very little shoulder mass. The shoulders on a small measure 17" with a 21.5" chest. The mediums are 18" with a 22.5" chest. I'm a average sized (5'11" 170) but when I originally bought the small, it was far too tight in the shoulders. I realised I had to go with the medium as shoulders are always the most important fit. With $10-$15 of tailoring the chest/waist, the mediums fit perfectly. You have to realize that these are $40 shirts. If you want designed slim fit shirts, you'll have to spend the $150 on gitman, boo, etc.

Well for those complaining about sizing, I believe LEC is going to release a slim poplin for 2011 Spring/Summer. Perhaps LL Bean Sig. can take note?

where you hear that from? Their current small is already a slim fit for me, it'll be interesting to see what a slim-fit small is.
