Probably one of the best options for that, though it depends on what you mean by "dress pants." If you mean wool pants that are part of a suit, maybe--if the cut is not too full and the fabric not to overly formal--pinstripes, etc. If you mean a cotton chino or something similar, than i think they would work well.
I wear my GT's w/ slim cotton chinos plenty and think it's a good combo. But it's still a boot, w/ a lugged sole (albeit a lower profile one than most work style boots).

Hey. I am going to buy the Red Wing 875. Is this boot suitable for snow and mud? How about treating this Shoe with Obenauf's heavy duty LP? Or would snow seal be the better deal?
Can I use the creme on each spot of the shoe, except for the sole, because it is crepe?
I know GT would be a better deal, but it s too expensive.

Your question doesn't make any sense. It entirely depends on the shoe, size, and last. Plus you can't really tell width from the outside measured width. The difference between D and E is about .2 inches measured on the inside. A medium-narrow boot can have a wide sole, or smaller toe-box. You'd just never know from an outside measurement.
