Text provided directly from Holdfast... Pattern Frenzy Friday! The core challenge is to be able to incorporate those patterns into a whole outfit that pleases the eye, without tipping over into a Hieronymus Bosch-esque level of fantastical insanity. Wear whatever you like, but no solids allowed (shoes and other leather accessories are excepted). Your shirt, suit, tie, square, socks and so on must all have a pattern with at least two colours. They can be as muted/small or as loud/flashy as you like but they must all have a multi-coloured pattern. Texture/weave doesn't count, there need to be some different colours within fabric. So a black/white herringbone jacket counts as pattern even though it seems solid grey from a distance... but a plain grey herringbone would be a solid and therefore not allowed. A solid donegal doesn't count, but a multi-coloured donegal that appeared solid from a distance would be permitted. You get the idea. The aim is, of course, to create the best looking outfit within those parameters.

Which will, of course, increase HF's practice. Very clever of him.

I think you will find many will go conservative with this, with patterns that look solid from a distance.

I think the only way to rock is full on FU, which is my practice with all of these challenges.

I will have to think very hard about this one.

This can only end badly. (And I mean that in the nicest way possible.)

What if I don't have that many suits to choose from? I'd love to wear a sport coat and trousers, but trousers HAVE to be solid, without going overboard. Thoughts?

Distressed jeans with different coloured patches or big rips that allow the underlying skin colour to show through both count as multicoloured patterns.

Just trying to be helpful.

Going overboard is a feature, not a flaw, of the contest.
