M-o-M do you ever, or are you tempted, to go to any traditional skinhead 'dos? When I've gone to a few clubs in London I always see older guys who have gotten back into the fold so to speak, enjoying the music and still getting out on the dance floor.

Re racism - couldn't have put it better myself.

Re the "dos", no - I'm old and knackered.

Yeah, that's ok. All jeans in my size have 8.5"-9" across hem. I just don't care too much about it, but when it's cold weather, I feel wintriness under turnups.

EDIT: and when I was talking about cold weather - crombie or donkey leaves unprotected neck, V-neck pullover the same, so do you wear scarf or something special to keep your neck in warm?

Good to know, I'll try to find a place to try them on to see if I like them in person, until then I'll probably try to find a nice tassel loafer. Any suggestions GS? (And on a budget too

Nice to see that this thread is still alive.

GS, I want to say thanks for the recommendation for Booted and Suited. I'm in the middle of reading it, and was also surprised at the numerous mention of Motown and Soul being just as popular as Reggae.

I feel like I might have just bought some fake doc's on ebay. They're cherry red 3i's MIE, but I noticed they have some oddities. The sole does not go straight down it tapers to the bottom. The stitching is spaced much larger than my MIC DM's. The "odd place" on the stitching where it doubles over and has the split in the welt (I think that's what it is) is on the outside of the shoe. The sole is very heavy, the shoes weigh probably twice what my 10i boots do. And lastly, the ridges that run around the sole aren't uniform, they look like they were ground in, like rough looking. Are these traits something that they just used to do on doc's back when they were made in England or do I have some fakes that I need to return?

PS. I might take some pictures and put them up tomorrow. I only have a camera on my phone but it should still show the "flaws".

post pics. i dont see why anyone would fake DMs, not like they are a hot commodity. Who knows you might have some killer vintage shoes. or fakes.

Yeah, I know the turnup/cuff isn't straight, I usually wear it down one roll with sneakers and shoes.. Only rolled it up for the boots..
I don't think I can sew it down because while the high cuff looks good with the DMs, it won't look so good with other shoes (however, my girlfriend doesn't like the high cuff at all, she likes it better when it sits lower and she'd prefer me leave it like that)..

I'd love to have a pair of Oxblood DMs or Solovairs, but neither of them make a UK13/US14.

Scratch that, I'm wrong - they make a For Life Oxblood in UK13. Sweet.

Try putting in a reference to 1960s, or using a search topic with quotation marks around it, such as "mod fashion" or "mod suit".

nice. The boot leather is kinda matte when new, but after a few good polishings in front of the tv they start to take on a really good shine.

M-o-M, I may have asked this already?...but what did you do once the 1970s hit?

did you do the suedehead-smoothie transition (perhaps even into glam?), stay a skinhead even tho it was technically out of style, or just move on to "normal"?
