I've seen a handful of good and a boatload of bad. If people ask me advice on the tuck, I tell them "NO!" because if you need to ASK, it surely looks bad. You need to have natural steez on the level of someone like JKissi to pull it off.

Listirine, are you talking about untucking only being able to be pulled off by a brother, or tucking?

Exactly. The belt would have been perfect.

I think with it works more often t-shirt, obviously being asymmetrical helps, hems but it's a rule of thumb and still has plenty of potential for failure. For every time that it works you've got ten times where it just looks wrong.

What's wrong with monotony? People do black on black on more black all the time. In your case, you still have some color in your shirt which you can see under the sweater.

A coat with what underneath? x___x

And I'm not bitching. Montreal and NY have pretty similar weather/temperatures.

its so strange, I often find that someone will express what I personally consider to be a pretty controvertible fashion opinion (ie, categorical dismissal of untucked bds under sweaters) and then everyone that comments will act like its completely obvious *shrug*

personally, I feel like the success rate between tucking and untucking is pretty even. you dont need some superhuman steez to pull it off. its a different, grungier look, but I don't think its fair to say those that do it are just flailing for sprezz

You have to admit, though, 9 times out of 10 it comes off exactly that way.

Post pics of what you think is "successful."

unfortunately I don't have a gallery of successful sweater over bd fits on hand, but I think it works in synthese's fit and I don't exactly think it's breaking TKJTG's either

it just doesn't come off as try hard or affected to me, I simply think its a more nonchalent stylistic choice

Pretty sure that's called "sprezz," which is about as try-hard as you can get. If not, it's sloppy for the sake of being sloppy.

It's not exactly a sin but it's the equivalent of putting on flip flops instead of shoes to grab something quick at the market down the street.

Which is sometimes relevant, fashion-wise. Sometimes the best looks are the ones we don't think about.

But I do think untucking is in general a conscious choice made by those who want to seem unaffected. Which is devastatingly ironic.
