Can a bespoke dress shoe help my gait?

I am very tall (6'5) and my feet are strangely shaped. I currently wear orthotics in order to walk correctly and have to put them in dress shoes. This limits me usually to wearing more boot-shaped shoes as the orthotic slips less easily.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any bespoke shoemakers who could also correct for podiatric problems by building the shoe around my foot. I love the way I look in a fine shoe, but usually my gait suffers and I end up looking like I have a limp.

Hear me out....

I am over 6'5" and was also put in orthotics to 'correct' my gait. Was told I'd never make it through basic training let alone a career in the Army. BULL ****. Threw away the orthotics, stopped wearing training shoes designed for over-pronators and starting wearing decent leather shoes and normal more flexible trainers when doing sport/exercise. My gait 'problems' disapeared in abt 6 weeks. Zero pain, joined the army, 5 years service out in '08. In my experience there is a lot to be said for trying another option...

... despite the above I have no idea about what problems you may have, bespoke shoes may well work for you.

Bespoke shoemakers - yes

However, not the likes of Lobb and Cleverley but orthopaedic bespoke shoe specialists like James Taylor (http://www.taylormadeshoes.co.uk/). You will not get stylist Gaziano Girling designs but enough options for a good shoe wardrobe

I urge you to contact Moulded Shoe in NYC. They're on the web as mouldedshoe.com. Rafael and co. are amazing fitters, and they offer a lot of Alden shoes that will accommodate orthotics. MS also does custom orders with Alden and makes their own line of shoes.

It depends where you are located, you can actually get orthopaedic shoes made by Mr Delos in France as he studied those.
