Uh you mean ignorant and masturbatory? There is nothing more annoying than someone who doesn't know what he's talking about trying to sound like some sort of visionary who sees what the "snobs", in this case, don't.

Exactly. Nothing worse than writing three paragraphs of ignorance, presented as incontrovertible truth, complete with "indeeds" and "oftentimes". H&M != high fashion. A slim fit is not automatically a "great fit". Lanvin altruistically wanting to spread the transcendent joy of fashion to the groundlings when their entire ******* enterprise is based on luxury and exclusion. etc. etc. etc.

This makes perfect sense. H&M is by far the most stylish of the mass-market retailers, and their cuts, designs, and fabrics (even if it's just the 'look' of the fabrics) perfectly replicate high fashion. I always hear people complain about the quality of H&M, but I've never found it problematic. If you're buying the LOGG or DIVIDED brands, which are intended for frat boys and teenage boys respectively, why are you expecting high fashion? (But still probably they're designed with the intention of surviving a frat boy and teenager.)

But their "H&M" line stuff to me has a perfect fit, and maintains the "new" look for a long time. If you wash the clothes and don't put them in the dryer (and don't wash jeans unless you fell in a mud puddle), and then iron them, they're perfectly fine garments. I'd say their fits/styles are much better than, say, ZARA (whose shirts always scratch my skin), and much better than GAP and even supposedly classier mid-level retailers like Club Monaco and Banana Republic. I'd go so far as to say I'd rather shop at H&M than Acne.

And what is this criticizing Lanvin for wanting to collaborate with H&M? Clearly they see a big name retailer that actually cares about fashion. It's like Lagerfeld"”he doesn't hold poorer people in contempt. He wants them to be able to enjoy fashion as well. (And oftentimes the poorer ones have much more style and creativity.) And for the person who invoked YSL, he himself would never be so snobbish to denigrate H&M"”he himself started the Rive Gauche stores, said perfect style was a black turtleneck and a blazer, and wished that he had invented the blue jean.

On topic though when do we see this? I haven't been keeping track but will admit it piques curiosity.

wrong, I also addressed the substance of your post (see below):

When does this come out? It would be kinda nice to see them use interesting material for a lower price point

they still do this quite blatantly-- a recent brief visit yielded ripoffs of a prorsum knit and jil sander's marble printed clothing.

according to a salesperson that i talked to, the only canadian store getting this collab is apparently the branch in vancouver -- i'm assuming there's only one there?

personally, i'd rather wait for discounted lanvin on yoox (cost would probably be the same anyway), although i wouldn't mind seeing the fruits of this collab in person.

I'm hoping it's like the McRib. Completely delicious in all the wrong ways.

Too bad we'll probably get Sizzler.

Not keeping my hopes up, but I am curious to see what Lanvin can do with the limitations of the market...
