Polishing alligator/crocodile shoes

Hello friends,

I have these two pairs of so-called 'now and later' gators that I'd like to clean/polish...I have attached two photographs below (btw how can I get images to appear in the actual message box without them being attachments if they're not from the internet?)

I've noticed that they've lost their original shine and the color looks like its fading on the black ones...

I've taken these pumps to some shoe polishing joints here in London and although they said they could find a way to clean them, I obviously did not trust their conniving asses...lame.

Any suggestions or previous experience with these bad boys??

I have no answer to your question, but I'll add another: Anybody ever tried polishing their belts?

polish in the same way to calf using both wax and creams and then once in a blue moon use reptile cream on them

Meltonian Delicate cream is awesome on pretty much everything.
Pasquale in LA turned me on to it as a superior substitute for Lexol conditioner. I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly. It leaves leathers feeling soft and supple instead of the slight rubbery film that Lexol can leave.

Never, never use wax

I use creams made for exotic shoes. Been using creams for over 30 years with good results.

how do crocodiles take care of their skin? layers of salt water and sunbaking?

but i guess its differnet once the leather is tanned.

Sounds to me like creams are the way to go...

Does anyone know any experienced shoe repair/cleaning services or stores in London that could do a good job with gators??

Nice looking alligator shoes. Have you considered getting good quality shoetrees? If not, you should.

Well the shoe trees for the tan Stefano Riccis came with the shoes, hence the SF logo, so I guess they should be fine no?? I mean they were probably made for this exact model...

As for the black Diors, I don't recall getting shoe trees with them, and if I did, I probably lost them... Are there any high quality shoe trees out there than y'all can vouch for?? Or does it essentially depend on the shoe??

Here is the Meltonian Delicate for $1.09. At their prices it may make sense to get a lot of colors.
