Define 'affordable'. What is your limit for price?
How urgent is your need?
Do you have a specific sweater type or style in mind?
Where (approximately) are you located (example- Austin Texas)?
Provide us with this information and someone here can probably pinpoint your solution.

Jerk. Check out Uniqlo (they're quite thin, but I like it that way), Martin & Osa (a defunct brand you can now get for cheap from Filene's Basement), or B&S on here.

I've gotten a few Lambswool Polo Ralph Lauren sweaters at TJMaxx/Marshalls. Cheap too, about $30-40

Have to totally agree. The TJMaxx by my work had a whole slew (do people still say slew? If they don't they should...it's a good word...kinda like divan...and dungarees...) of Polo merino sweaters in the $40 range. There were also tons of Nautica, Lucky, DKNY and a couple Diesel sweaters.

Affordable = <$100 retail

No specific style...except that it's reasonably slim

Located near king of prussia mall, so lots of options (although no uniqlo there as far as i know...)

Would prefer larger mall/department store brands rather than obscure brands that I have to search hard for or order online
