I've had a couple of tasty Loring Pinots this week. One was an 07 Durell Vineyard and another was an 07 Clos Pepe. Both very good.

Just got my ME allocation. A case of RRV alone. Even got a magnum of all the SVD bottlings.

Edit: 2004 Pax Syrah The Terraces Alder Springs Vineyard tonight.

tough evening at work, even though I'm out earlier than usual. A Vernaccia makes things better again.

Don't waltz in here dropping the v-word without a producer.

***** I'm still busy and decided to log in to work at home. It's Falchini "vigna a solatio" - $13 and not bad. Would be happy to buy by the glass at most places.

The Pax was a big boy. Decanted an hour. Still a huge wine but great with the steaks and shallots tonight.

Had to read about Contador to get that one.

blatant self-promotion: one of my wine writers had an interesting piece on california's weather than the harvest.

I'm a little tired right now, but deets will come tomorrow on tonight's festivities. 3 great Piedmont reds and some awesome "snacks" from Maialino.

I do this too, sometimes. It's worth it the few times a year.

we'd finally installed one of those split-unit ACs in our bedroom in May. Then an entire summer of 70-degree highs and we were kicking ourselves. then it hit 111 at the beach on Monday. best investment ever.

Last night had a 2007 Hess Select Cabernet Sauvignon. Website says it's 47% Mendocino County, 37% Lake County, 16% Napa County.

Not sure if this is considered a decent California wine or not, it was $23 dollars up here.

At first taste it has harsh and bland, did not enjoy it at all. Opened up quite a bit after an hour or two, to the point I would consider it pretty decent, slightly above average.
