Henley or rugby over a shirt and tie?

Saw this today and thought it was interesting:

What's your opinion? Is this a more casual way to do v-neck sweater over a shirt and tie (an already casual look that's still a bit dressy for certain regions), or just a faux pax?

Something similar, but with a rugby:

Eugh. It reeks of prep-fashion. Its like Jack Wills and Polo Ralph Lauren had a meeting to see what they could turn into the next big thing, and came up with "I know, the undershirt on the outside!!!!"

Starting to think you guys might be right. It might work for someone in their early to mid 20s, and perhaps someone with a bit more of a fratty lifestyle. The v-neck sweater over the shirt and tie is a bit too dressy for where I live, and I was hoping this could be a more casual way of pulling it off, but now I'm having second thoughts.

Nay, nay and thrice nay. Absolutely despicable look. Do NOT jump on this bandwagon.

How about trying a vest; Doesn't even have to be a three-piece suit if it's done well.

First look -- why is the henley outside of the shirt? It's an athletic piece or a thermal layer. Doesn't make sense.

Second look -- two collars? no thanks.

Seriously, just wear a V-neck sweater over a buttondown collar shirt. No tie necessary. It's casual.

I think some people need to seperate fashion shoots vs. real life suitability.

I have to say I like it ... casual, yet with understated style. Plus, I went to the University of Virginia and the second guy is wearing the varsity rugby colors nicely.

Looks terrible and affected. As a waspy prep I wouldn't be caught dead in EITHER of these outfits. For one thing, the WASP lifestyle is about thrift, and both of these unecessarily wear out one item of clothing. If you are cold, put on a jacket.
