Just a PSA on the prices, I went into Daffy's and got these 4: A=$30 (heavy cotton) B=$60 (wool) C=$30 (soft/brushed cotton. moleskin?) D=$50 (wool)

Mabitex are definitely low rise & slim fit. Which do you like? Not sure how I'm going to pair "B", but they're less like "Chef's pants" like the last pair I tried. Next, I looked at the red/white checked pants below, and just couldn't pull the trigger. I like the idea of these pants, and figured it could fall under the "professor" look. They're not AS garish as some checkered pants out there, but they still felt like pajama or "Wonder Years octogenarian golfer" How would you pull off pants like these? Any pictures on a full outfit?

It's easy...balance plaids with solids. Solid sweater, sportcoat, etc. Many would work with a blue blazer, for ex. Don't be timid! Here is one look from Gucci. Ignore the styling & fit, just check the colorways & coordination. http://meandmarisa.files.wordpress.c...pg?w=274&h=343

Brighter one is more burgundy and green...wear with brown as you seem to be doing.

Bold patterns direct the eye. If you want people to look at your legs, wear bold pants.

This reverses the standard male dress pattern. Some want to, others don't.

SF believes in expanding your limits. Ridicule is so much easier when people take chances

Heh, I also bought one of style "B" at Daffy's today. The leg is a little slimmer than I normally go but I'm going to give it a shot.

Alright enough of this, I'm going to the NYC Daffy's when I get back in the states next week. Which one are we talking about here? 1331 Broadway? 50 Broadway? 335 Madison? or 462 Broadway?

No doubt! Still a good value, though I suppose I do wonder about the folks that are doing a 200% markup...

Yea, just as well, then. Also, Flusser/Manton say patterns make you look shorter. I don't need that. Perhaps with a blazer coming down to my thighs, maybe the golf pants don't look as outrageous...

Looking though the measurements on the B & S, it seems that at least some of the wool ones have higher rises (in some cases more than an inch more than equivalent tagged cotton), and wider knee measurements. Is it reasonable to conclude the cotton tend to be slimmer than the wool, or is it all more random that that?
