Over the last couple of years, I have read many interviews from rock bands and classic rock bands who still tour on occasion, but haven't released any new music in many years - but the reason for this or so they claim is that it's because fans don't want new music and are happy just with the old stuff.
In addition to not being inspired to write new music and living off the past, I think it really has more to do with the fact that they don't want to spend any money recording a new album - only to have it die because of illegal downloading and the fact that CD's in general are not selling.
I love music and for me, I will always buy new music from any artist/band that I love (I am a completist when it comes to band disographies) - but since I don't speak for everyone, do you want to hear new music from your past favorite bands or is the nostalgia of hit songs enough for you, since you have discovered many new bands?
