I decided to break in my RLPL Mackays. Unfortunately, the spot where the right shoe creased is cutting into the top of my big toe something fierce

I've tried taping a coin to my toe but that really didn't do the trick. Any other advice?

They must be too big for you, what size are you?

This is a longshot, but were your Edward Greens made by Allen-Edmonds?

That's Mr. Allen Edmonds to you.

I'm usually a 10.5 to 11 US in everything. These are 10 UK/10.5 US. If I went any smaller, I think my toes would be scrunched in the toe box.

I should've known better. I wouldn't have creasing issues if I had bought seconds. Perhaps a light application of Renovateur will do the trick.

My EGs required a bit of a break in period. They definitely weren't causing me any pain, but initially they were noticeably stiffer than any other shoes I've worn.

Extra-thick moleskin until you break in that crease.

I have shoes that I have had for years and they still dig into the top of my toe. I think it is just how your foot bends in relation to the shape of the last that causes the leather to bend down just in that way that it hurts. I have gotten used to it. I used to get a blister, now there is a calous. Sometimes you have to suffer for footwear.

The toe box on the 888 last can be especially tough when new. It will break-in, but figure on wearing them 6-10 times before that happens.

In the old days, a shoe store would use a bone to break the vamp in the right place so this wouldn't happen.

They are too long for you. I had the same problem and let the pair I always wanted go as a result.
