I'm hoping this last episode is a good indication of where the coming episodes will head. If not, this will be the worst season so far IMO.

I think this season already is better than the last.

^I agree...lots of drama on all fronts, seeing Don struggle, plus more stuff about the biz, given SCDP's need to grow their billings to survive.

Season 3 spent close to three episodes on Betty's father...I really had no idea where that went or why that was so important.

I would also agree. It's more focused on the business, the personal story lines aren't so soap-ish, and pretty much all the story lines are more interesting. It's also, in my opinion, very well edited, and the dialog is probably better.

+1.

It seems a bit more humorus, too. I very much appreciate the improvement. Last season, I was just watching the episodes so I wouldn't get lost from any missed plot events, now I am actually looking forward to the new ones.

Yes! Roger is full of one-liners, every episode has good jokes (which was not the case before), and even Don has some good ones.

Although I lol at both the secretary and Roger's war jokes, both border on too much / audience pandering.

He and Don's daughter were very close and part of why she's having the problems she is now is due to his death. That arc also brought out some of the basis of Betty's dysfunctionality.

Well I do know that but I thought it was dragged out - particularly the hallucinations during baby Gene's birth which was literally an episode.

Anyway, this probably a little bit of a spoiler but I'm guessing someone got hold of a TV guide preview or something but there are one sentence snippets of the rest of the season:
Season 4 - on wikipedia

The tenth episode points to something that some have talked about as where the whole season might lead up to.

They were? I only remember her stealing $5 from him and thats pretty much all the interaction they had...

I thought the entire series has been good so far but the awkward moments are soooooo cold, makes me just go WTF!

That old secretary is a riot:

"Where are some good places to eat?"
"I don't work for you!"

Also, that ending was ambiguous: did Sterling actually hire Draper or did Don take advantage of him as a forgetfull drunk? Was this confirmed in earlier seasons?
