And a word of advice: don't be so cavalier about employment.

There are probably hundreds of laid off IT guys who would kill to have your "no brainer, dead end" job. They will arrive early, leave late and take whatever break is given to them.

Look into unemployment and education.

An engineering friend of mine got laid off, and she is now collecting a pretty nice check from unemployment to cover tuition/living expenses while she goes to school.

Funny thing was .. she was "laid off" from a summer student position, that she was leaving anyways to go back to school.

sorry you cant pick up full unemployment benefits if you are in school or training.

Are you in women's shoes? I had a friend that in worked women's shoes. His pay w/commisson was good. His wife said "The women were all over him". They even gave him xmas and birthday presents. Not the job for a guy with a jealous wife (Oh yes, he was screwing some of the customers). She went to the store during a big sale and cussed out the customers.

Sounds like you were laid off and not fired. The hefty severance pay will factor into how soon it will be before you can get umemployment pay.

You were laid off from a full time job and you tell them you are looking for full time work , you can get unemployment benefits.
It's not hard to go 2 or 3 years looking for work.

Sounds like this was a seasonal/temp job and they don't qualify for unemployment benefits.

If you are fired though depending on the reason it may not work.

You didn't pay in to it - you're former employer did.

It sounds more like you were laid off, I'd file for Unemployement ASAP.

Not sure exactly what you mean. Every state that I've seen the employer, not the the employee, pays for the SUTA and FUTA out of their own pocket.

True, the employer pays into what is essentially an unemployment fund, the employee does not.

I worked in the summer during college as a temp for their 1/2 yearly and anniversary sales. Basically was a runner for the teen girls section (brass plum or something?)...took clothes from the back and put them on the floor, hung them up, folded clothes, etc....they put me in the lingerie section too for a while which was just awesome. All my supervisors were hot women as were the co-workers. also was a register guy in the milf section of the store. all the customers were really friendly and no scammers like you get at macys. time flew by..only job where I looked forward to coming into work. Friend used to do security there too and we used to go out drinking with the sales girls as well. all about the connections!

Gotta admit, I'm a bit jelly of you. Not that my 4 years of lounging in a beach chair and looking out for bikini nip slips was a terrible job in itself.
