There are more "bed bugs" and other micro-organisms on the average pillow (even your own pillow) than you could count.
I think I read in a Bill Bryson book that if you weigh the average pillow, 10-20% of the weight you measure will be "bed bugs" and other wayward organics and the like.
I'm not sure it's a battle you can win. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was staying in a hostel in Melbourne where a bunch of guys had been feasted on. They were barely functional in the bars for a few days due to the constant itching.
