Ahh my GF and I were commenting on this photo when the BB catalog came out. I like the rolled up pant leg rather than the sock stuff for preventing chain/cuff accidents.

Depends on how vigorous you cycle. Admittedly a 5+ mile trek on a hot humid day is not advised, but here public transportation and bicycles go hand in hand and it is not uncommon to see people dressed in suits commuting.
No problem but not a military one...
The derivation of most "well known" German names is quite a paradox anyway.Isn't Shuman a German name?
