Yay or nay? For simplicity's sake, assume both are from the fine folks at Brooks Brothers. Something you can do right... can get away with... or just shouldn't even consider? I'd pair with sport shirt and loafers, instead of dress shirt and lace-ups. If nay... would a sport coat make it more better?

It's often a safe, boring look, but perfectly acceptable. Either way on the shirt and shoes.

Especially without a dress shirt, this can go awfully wrong, if the fit is off - even if the collors compliment eachother perfectly. IMO.

By the way, this how one spots american tourists in vienne from a distance with precision.

From what I understand, it's fine until you finish prep school. After that, at least make the pants interesting or mix up the buttons of the blazers.

I spent all of 7th grade in a too small blazer, shockingly short chinos, and sperrys.

Safe, boring and much approved of by those who are consider themselves to be traditionalists.

Yay. Of course, like any other combo, it can be done well or not well.

The combo works well for conservative business casual.

HAHAHHAHAH this is too funny but sadly it is true. If you are going for a traditional look its okay but spice it up with your own flare.
