What's worse... the ones debating nutrition or the ones claiming those guys know about nutrition?

you can lose weight cutting calories, however if you're just taking in crap then you're going to be losing muscle more than fat. If you're in ketosis then you're body burns off more stored fat than muscle for energy. Then there are also different body types that respond to different ways of eating. So in the end you starve yourself you will end up smaller yes, and i agree w/ this theory. It also depends on your activity level. Mine is moderately high so i can take in more than the average joe sitting around on the couch all day, but if i still eat like crap say 2500 cals and burned 3000 cals, then i still manage to gain weight.

I'm not a dolt when it comes to nutrition, i only went to school for it, and have been heavy into watching my weight (horrible genes) for the past 10 years.

For the sake of this thread I know it is best not to comment on the nutrition talk, but damn is it tempting.

My point is that you can lose WEIGHT by cutting calories, but if the calories you still consumed are from mostly junk, then you're probably losing muscle. Look at Subway Jared. He lost a lot of weight by cutting calories, but he's never been anything but skinny fat.

Like I said, if you're only interested in losing weight and don't care about body composition, simply cutting calories will work. But if you want to be more than skinny fat, you need to be mindful of where those remaining calories are coming from.

I've got a friend who's the same height as me, weighs 10-15 pounds less than me, eats at a caloric deficit, and looks like he'd have trouble beating up a young teenager.
