From novels that I have actually read myself, I'd say:

The Brothers Karamasov (Dostojevski)
The Red and the Black (Stendhal)
Oblomov (Ivan Goncharov)

Maybe that's about it, can't remember many more, I'm not much into novels...

Moby-Dick -- it's about everything, all at once. Fun to read Ahab's rants out loud.
Picture of Dorian Gray
Poky Little Puppy

'Sometimes a Great Notion' by Ken Kesey

And then in no specific order

'Master and Margarita' by Bulgakov
'One Hundred Years of Solitude' OR 'Autumn of the Patriarch' by Marquez
'Gravity's Rainbow' by Pynchon
'Herzog' by Saul Bellow
'The Moon is Down' by Steinbeck
'Death on Credit' by Celine

Many more, but these immediately came to mind.

The whole novel is full of so many fantastic quotes that evoke so many different emotions and much like the rants of Captain Ahab they are much more entertaining when you read them out loud. I’ve only read On the Road in its entirety once and since that day I’ve been carrying around a copy to read random pages out of when I have only a few minutes to spare. I also carry another novel to read during longer periods of downtime. Here is a video that shows Jack reading a passage from Visions of Cody and the ending of On the Road that first sparked my interest in the book:

This thread has reminded me of what I stand to lose if I continue to favor nonfiction over fiction.

Giuseppe di Lampedusa, The Leopard
Henry James, The Golden Bowl
Twain, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Someone familiar with this novel will definitely not appreciate it being suggested in this thread though.

I think I've shared my opinion of the novel with JG and others in another thread. I understood the thread to be soliciting everyone's subjection "must-reads" and decided to leave it at that.

Loved Candide by Voltaire, but not sure if it is a must read...
