Is my Gianni Versace suit actually Couture? Real or fake?

Hi everybody! Great forum you've got here.

I am hoping somebody knowledgeable about suits may be able to helpme out here...

I recently purchased a suit off the Bay. The seller claims it is Gianni Versace Couture, and based on this I bought it what I considered to be a fair price (US$320).

Supposedly, it had been worn in a fashion show so is lightly used.

Howvere, I have my doubts as to wheteher it is Couture, and even whether it is authentic.

I researched my purchase a little after I had bid (stupid, I know

) and found my way here. A thread stated that the Couture line is made in Switzerland by Zegna, and a Versace boutique here in Australia confirmed that.

The suit I purchased is labelled, above theright hand side inner pocket:

GIANNI VERSACE
MADE IN ITALY (this text is small and placed vertically to the right of the large GIANNI VERSACE)

The label is a medium-light blue grey, with black chequered border.

The 'hook loop' at the centre of the collar also features the text Made in Italy (in a sort of cursive font).

I am concerned that there is no label in any of the pockets describing the fabric used, cleaning instructions, etc.

The pants have a similar blue grey labelinside the belt to that described above, and nothing more.

The material used feels very nice, but I don't know enough about suits to know whether it is canvassed or not.

I'll post pics when I get the chance but I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me out based on the above info.

Thanks!

It may be real, but nothing can be said for certain without pictures. If it were really worn to a fashion show (on the runway), there's a good chance that it's a sample piece and will be lacking certain things that are added to the retail collection. I'm not certain about any of this since I don't really know much about Versace sample pieces, but I'm just giving my opinion based on what other people say about sample pieces.

I need a photo, but if your label looks like this :
versace-label.jpg
then the suit is made pre-2002 and was made by Inco or Alias, and not up to the current Zegna made couture standards. If your label looks like this (not an actual tag image, but the setup and font is the same :
versace_250-500.jpg
then it is modern (post 2002) mainline and not a couture suit. The only true couture label that is made by Zegna to couture standards reads "Gianni Versace Couture" in the innner chest pocket, has a contrast color trim to the jacket, and a greek key lining to the jacket that looks like this:

the label will look like the plaque on this belt, setup and font wise (sorry I didnt have an image of a suit label handy):

post a pic of the label in the chest and I will tell you if it is or not. Inside the inner chest pocket should also be the composition tag that is a Zegna made tag, as couture suits are only made by Zegna, and started in 2002. It looks like this :

Thanks very much everybody.

The label looks like the first pic SpooPoker posted, but minus the word 'Couture'.

Upon closer inspection of the garment, I also found a hole in the pants which had been mended (this was not disclosed in the ad).

Luckily the seller has agreed to refund my purchase upon return of the suit. But I'm going to have to pay for shipping myself no doubt...

Thanks again!

This site is awesome. I'm sending the suit back and I'm getting my next one off here (getting married in around 6 weeks).
