It is a side effect of mid-tone contrast alterations, perhaps through some sort of HDR processing. There are several things that could cause it.

Your photography continues to suck, but the ensemble is great.
For an extreme whitening affect, I recommend consuming Jello while listening to Jeff Foxworthy on high volume.
