^ Interesting! Can you describe it a little. Also, props to Rouge for doing it. They do weird stuff, but this is way out of their comfort zone.

Tastes like roasted soba!

First sip was a bit sweet, but after that it's all woodsy and nutty with a mild bitterness at the end.

Actually, Morimoto's place in Napa is supposed to have a brewery, but I think making his own beer is secondary. I heard if they produce a certain amount of beer, they don't have to pay some insane Napa county pricing for a liquor license.

Sounds pretty cool, I'll put that on the list as one to try. Have you had Rouge's Juniper of Chipotle beers yet? They are like a whole new level of strange.

I haven't had that yet, but there's a Rogue pub in SF, and I'm actually supposed to go there in a few weekends with some friends who are in town. If they have it, I'll try it.

Opps. Meant Juniper OR Chipotle. Two separate things, both weird and worth trying! Not worth trying are Rouge's spirits. Pretty much terrible across the board. I haven't had the new Oregon Single malt yet, but I don't have high hopes.
