+1 This would also allow some BlazerSuit functionality (though you might not want that with the color). EDIT: I'd go patch and flap, not patch no-flap.

So a patched breast and two flapped hip pockets? Not a good look in my opinion.

One vote for three patch pockets. I'm sensing an inverse relationship here.

Grey/smoked MOP buttons, hip patch and breast welt: a good suit/odd jacket compromise, no? The grey of the buttons will blend in better than brown with the cloth, and the sheen will provide some contrast.

I recently made a lightweight dark RAF blue suit (from one of the Zegna Trofeo books) with some sort of light blue with grey/white hue horn (?) buttons -- looks OK, but I'm not sure whether it would work as an odd jacket. I wanted to just use it as a suit, anyway.

Are you going to flip your ****, Phat Guido-style, when the OP copies your suit?

No no. Welt breast, patch + flap at hip.

Not gonna do patch with flap, sorry. Doesn't work on fresco. That's a tweed/flannel look.

Hmm. "Rule" or preference? I suppose I can see what you mean but I'm a sucker for function and thus don't like completely open hip pockets (since I often use them). CUE. Vox: post SCOTTeVEST ad.

No need to be apologetic. A classic Brooks blazer was a hopsack with flapped patch hip pockets.

It's unlikely since I do not own nun chucks.

Hopsack would work. The point is, flaps look OK on heavy, textured cloth but not on light.

I voted 2-patch with welted breast, mostly because it would be nicer when the jacket is worn separately. But, if you want it primarily for business, I'd go full suity-suit. Maybe even with besom (no flap) pockets. 3 patch seems overkill for a business suit. I've always liked this photo. Probably lighter blue than the Fresco, but a nice shade nonetheless.
