Any suggestions on what color tie I should wear w/ a brown striped shirt (cutaway collar) paired with a navy suit? I'm thinking a solid mid-blue but am unsure.

FYI, the fabric in question is the Brown 09 shown in the following link:

Thanks - ET

What about a Cream colored tie? Seems to go with brown and navy

It'll be quite a bit lighter than both the suit and shirt - not a look for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm skeptical of the suit/shirt combo. It's a casual-looking shirt fabric with a dressy suit fabric, and not enough contrast. If I had to do it, I would think a dark blue tie with some texture.

Yup, that's where I'm headed as well.

Alternative is to use it as a casual shirt only (paired with a navy blazer or navy linen SC).

The spacing of the stripe is certainly in the direction of casual but you can make it work as a dress shirt. Blue or navy is boring. Try Green in various shades for something different without being over the top. You can get some feel for the green, blue and brown combinations here. The ingredients are reversed (with the sports coat being brown) but the concepts are the same. EDIT: I noticed that my location has been changed to greener pastures. Ironic.

I think you'd use this shirt alot more as a button down collar.

Go ask Ed - he's got a similar shirt - look in the Panta ties thread.

+1 Ed's shirt tie combos are very well done.

Hmm, good call on the dark rust. I also like the navy shatung you're sporting above.

Btw, is your buttondown made from the same Acorn fabric? Looks very similar.

Too late now - the shirt is ready. I also hate buttondowns.
