I have a pair of the sand suedes too and I had been meaning to spray them with a waterproof protector, but it slipped my mind and wore them out one day without checking the weather forecast. Needless to say they are covered in small dark brown spots and if anything they look 100 times better than they did brand new. Picked up a pair of beeswax from Nordstrom Rack yesterday ($49.99!) and I can't wait to beat the hell out of those.

Yeah I dont even worry about my sand anymore. The more character the better, and I have been caught out at least twice. And I lol'd at the Nordstrom Rack comment I was in one the other day and was tempted to buy a beeswax and a sand simply because they were cheap!

For beeswax leather, any kind of care necessary? Same as other leather shoes? Conditioner + polish/wax? Or just let nature and time work their magic?

Avoid polish/wax, you don't want these to look shiny. I'd use a beeswax based conditioner, my brother uses Obenauf's LP on his and is pleased with the results.

almost no care is needed, just wear them until they look really dry (which shouldn't be until at least after a year of wear) and then give 'em a coat of Obenaufs.

Banana republic has them online. They usually have a 25% off coupon every few weeks.

I love the sand suedes for just this reason; no other color will really wear in the same way. They look so goofy out of the box - like any white shoe, really - but they wear-in fast, and look better the longer you wear them. I just wish the crepe sole didn't wear out so quickly; you can get a year out of these, maybe, but I wouldn't stretch it any longer. Might just be me, of course; walking around campus all day tends to age my shoes at an accelerated rate.

i'd also be interested in this

i'm sure they can be resoled, i found this picture a while back of what appears to be clarks DB resoled with a leather sole

I wish there was an option for leather soles, I like how casual suede desert boots look, i just can't get past that crepe sole, i think its ugly.
