What happens in Vegas ABSOLUTELY stays in Vegas. At my best friend's bachelor party two months ago you never would have guessed that half the guys had girlfriends. BTW, not a single person brought a camera

not exactly in vegas, but whatever the hell I did in the past that required discreetness I always make sure I'm out with trusted friends and no more than that. loose lips = sinking ships, right.

i think there is some merit to the 'it's not cheating if you don't get caught' philosophy... there is a human psychological reality that if we find out a bad secret, much of the pain arises from the thought that the offender must not have been considerate or careful enough of the victim's feelings because he failed in successfully hiding the secret. More metaphysically, entities don't have a reality until there is an observer... so if my gf cheated on me in vegas and I never found out, hell I don't care at all cuz I don't know about it! I know some guys living in Thailand with Thai wives, and because of the extraordinary temptations that country presents, many of the wives have made pacts with the husbands saying they can do whatever they want just so long as she never finds out... and if she did find out, it would end in flash (lucky bastards if you ask me, though I personally know one of them took a mistress to his house when his wife was there, thankfully she divorced his ass). So in conclusion OP, from the psychological perspective I think the vegas slogan can be justified somewhat... from a purely moral/ethical standpoint, well, obviously it cannot.

There are grades of cheating... at the least offensive level are spur of the moment, spontaneous cheats entered into and followed by thoughtful remorse and reflection.... at the most egregious level is the kind displayed in your post, when guys purposely seek it out in drunken stupor and look back on it as something 'hilarious'

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Whatever stupid **** you do, etc. stays between those that did it together in Vegas.

However, IMO cheating on a gf, fiance, wife is never acceptable and being drunk in Vegas is not a valid excuse. Friends should look out for each other and if they see another friend looking like they are about to do something stupid like that, they should make sure that they set them straight and remove them from the situation. They'll thank you later (unless they're a d-bag). Using the "What happens in Vegas.." schtick for the purpose of cheating doesn't apply.

For a significant part of my youth and early adulthood I devoted a lot of my free time to *******. I am not an angel by any means, but I have to say that Vegas is just such a douchey idea.

To me Vegas is a bunch of dudes wearing Sevens and a lavender or black pinstripe dress shirt with the top 3 buttons undone... half a gallon of gel spiking up the 14 hairs they have left on their head getting off an airplane high fiving each other saying "vegas baby" (why the **** do you have to say baby after vegas? At what marsupial douchebag was this decided?) Vegas turns bland people whose entire characters and personalities have been appropriated from second rate movies and tv shows into a sort of douchebag cocktail that is intolerable to be around.

The "what happens in vegas" maxim is so pathetic purely based on 99% of the people who utter it. Is your life so ******* pointlessly without direction and meaning that you have to travel to Las Vegas to act the way you wish you could? And even worse, look at how you act when you go to Vegas. I can respect someone far more who acts on their impulses in their everyday lives (barring hurting others) than some fake baked douchebag with a propecia prescription and love handles who goes to Vegas desperately trying to live some ideal he saw in Entourage or whatever...

Besides the fact that Vegas tends to expose many people for what they are, the OPs question essentially comes own to how much value do you place on fidelity when it comes to your self respect. If you can live with yourself cheating, then it doesn't matter if you're in Vegas or not. That's obvious to everyone here. As someone in a committed relationship I could never see myself cheating under any circumstances.
