If you really think Alden wouldn't care, why are you pretending that you're opening a store?

Alright agreed, I am going to contact them today and tell them the whole score. If they don't approve this wont go forward, is that respectable enough?

I think that's cool, but you are probably gonna need a legit reason why you're doing this beyond price, which would be that you want a special makeup.

ie, I don't think you can just call them up and ask for 12 standard longwings in #8 at a wholesale price

so it probably helps to have at least a makeup in mind you can speak to

Not scandalous so much as funny and awkward.

"Hey Alden? It's me again, the guy opening a new online shoe store. I called last week, remember? Hehe, I was bullshitting about opening a store. Sorry 'bout that. It's just that I like your shoes and I want to get'em wholesale. So anyway, my lies notwithstanding, are we still on? For the special make-up? At wholesale?"

lol slappy. C'mon... do you understand indirect sales channels. Why would Alden screw over their resellers to sell 12 shoes directly to the customer?

Yea I dont think outright telling them what's going on is going to work. At the very least it should be kind of amusing.

Not saying they do or do not care, but this is the company that limits certain shoes to certain regions in deference to their dealer network (think Japan for instance). Also it may, or may not, be short sighted to take an order for 12 shoes off an individual while undercutting a dealer you've sold to for many years.

I'm not saying Alden will or won't do this, but there are a number of good reasons why they wouldn't. Keep us informed.

I figure this is a good place to post this. I am getting 15 or so shell cordovan Aldens in sizes 11.5 & 12. I have Whiskey, Cigar, Ravello, #8 and Black. They are all brand new. I have various models. They would be ~70-80% of retail (20-30% off). PM me if there is anything in particular that you are looking for. They are all loafers or lace-ups, no boots. There are a few more that are not in this picture. Teaser pic:
