Those and the W140 S-class in black/black were popular yakuza cars, on satin black Brabus tri-spokes, of course, cool for the era.

Agreed. Those cars may not become classics but in my eye, they had a huge impact on making MB's styling alot more "modern".
Still would love to roll around in the big body s600 with dual pane windows all blacked out.

I've personally always been a BMW guy (thanks to the parents) and my first car was a E34 525i 5-spd that I loved. However, now that I'm in an inpractical mood, I look at these old Mercs and think they're so classically styled and don't seem to depreciate now that they're 20+ years old. The particular copy I'm looking at has 112k miles been garaged and babied for its entire life (apparently) and is only 7k!

Ay carumba.

That's a great price! It'll be around $2500 to get it registered and all taxes paid, plus shipping, but it shouldn't be much more than $12,000 including shipping and getting it registered in Norway.

W-140 had a very strong presence that the more sleeker MB doesn't have now.

You can see a more subdued version of this in the W107.

My neighbor restored a W113 a few years ago. Its a beautiful car, but it seems to get a lot of garage time compared with her late-model japanese grocery-getter.

I love this car. I used to often see a white one around town, but haven't for about a couple of years now.

Just saw this tonight on a friends FB page. Assuming it's a 190SL?

THIS. White/cream with read interior, FTMFW. The only thing better is the 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 my neighbour has just bought, the dirtyfuckingbastard.

I recently Drove an '87 SL560 around town, maintained and in top condition, it was owned by a family member.

I wasn't to impressed, it felt heavy, felt sluggish. Honestly my old beat up BMW E30 3 series with over 200K miles felt faster, lighter and like it had better handling.

Whats so great about these cars?
