Good day today. Found a vintage Norman Hilton navy blazer with the patch pockets (is that what they are called?) Fully canvassed it appears. A stain on one arm that I hope comes out....$5. It fits really beautifully, surely it can clean up OK

Also I've been looking for a garment bag and found TWO Tumi, one large and one small overnighter type...$6 for both. Found a Tumi computer bag in another store but they wanted $50 for it....very anti Goodwill!

Couple of minor finds, a Brooks Bros merino sweater and a BB polo.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this question, so I thought I would ask here.

I bought two sports-coats for about $6 at a thrift store because I was looking to add other colors to my wardrobe besides navy and they seemed to fit decently. However, I have no idea what the quality is.

The first sports-coat is from Lands End, but I'm not sure when it was made. Here are some pictures of the jacket and the info I could find on the inside:

http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/y...i/alt022-1.jpg

http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/y...i/alt023-1.jpg

The second sports-coat is made from Deansgate, but I've never heard of this brand. Here are some pictures/info (it doesn't say what the materials are):

Of course, they were only $6 total, so it really doesn't matter that much. But what do you think the quality of these sports coats is? Did I get a good deal? What should I look for next time?

Thanks.

That is a major find, a grail item for some. I found one which is a bit small for me but I have kept it in hope of losing a little weight.

Spend a little time reading this thread and the suit ranking thread and it will clear things up. The Lands End is OK and the Deansgate is a brand that you will see at least 10 of in every thrift store...fairly low end mass market stuff.

But the important this is if you like it and it fits well you are fine. Once you get fully indoctrinated you will likely look for other brands. But no big deal...it was $6

I hit a thrift on the way home. This is is the one with the $99.99 Hilfigers but as usual they missed the real stuff:

Facconable long-sleeve b/d shirt - $3.50
Ferragamo tie: $1.99 - I've only ever found 2 and both were from this rat hole.
Vintage p/s: $.99 - no maker but the silk feels as heavy as in my high end ties.

Wow, this thread moved pretty quick today. My uncle from Japan is visiting so I took him up north to Duluth by Lake Superior. Came across some thrift shops up there. I've also successfully got him addicted to thrifting. He's just sad they don't have thrift shops in Japan. Well, nothing like we have here anyway. Moving on, I found a lot of finds that got me excited at first sight, but were a no-go in the end. - A beautiful recent D/B Sulka suit jacket. No trousers to be found and the jacket had been there since 3/5. Trousers are probably long gone.

- A bunch of recent Talbott BOC ties. All were $10 each. Waaay too expensive. - Brioni trousers in a 42 waist that were literally worn out in the crotch. - 3 orphaned Barbera suit trousers. .....the hunt goes on.

I believe it's a thread rule that any item from Kiton gets its own line.

I guess its like my dry-cleaner who's from India. He's always amazed at the things I find because he says they don't throw anything away. Not necessarily out of economic necessity but also because they actually desire items used by people they respected. Thank goodness for us most Americans crave the newest and the shiniest,

Ya, many of these phony charities ship their clothes (especially vintage) over there where buyers pay a premium.
