Credit card company (Bank of America) put a hold my account and tells me one of the vendors I do work with was compromised. Of course they can't tell me who the vendor is and now they need to send me another card (which they sent to my address in a different state then I'm currently in, so I have to get it mailed to me). One big pain ********** and I can't make sure it doesn't happen again by avoiding the vendor. Wouldn't annoy me so much if they could tell me exactly what happened.

I was apppointed to my city's diversity task force several months ago. We've been reviewing the strategic plan the past few months. They are insisting on a mission statement that is just absolutely absurd. I kept my mouth shut for the first hour of debate over minor wording changes, in hopes that people would hurry up and move along.

Finally, I figured I might as well add my two cents. The statement begins with "Our goal is to promote an understanding, appreciation, and awareness of many of the issues facing diverse communities in our city through....." and continues on like the preamble to the Constitution.

I tried to make the point that any mission statement that doesn't actually get around to telling people your mission until the seventeenth word is too long and needs simplification. Imagine, an attorney saying something is too wordy. My comments fell on deaf ears. This committee is much more about trying to look smart than actually being smart.

Most volunteer committees are. It's why they want to volunteer for these committees.

Here's what to do: print out the chapter from Jack Welch's book on writing mission and vision statements. It's helped me get committees going in the right direction a few times.

I've actually got that book from my MBA classes. That's a great idea, I really appreciate it. Will bring it next month.

******* BOA charged us 9k for lender provided insurance for 9/09-9/10. We have had insurance through our HOA from the purchase of our home. The dumb ***** took all of our escrow out and hit us with an $800 a month increase to rebuild the escrow. WE HAVE ******* INSURANCE OR ELSE YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE PROVIDED US WITH A LOAN. Took 3 weeks and 20 ******* faxes of the same document for them to agree that we had it. They said it would take 45 days for our escrow to be recredited and we would have to pay the extra $800. dumb

I get down to Lima Peru to carry out a training session for a bunch of people. the last time I did that, my training material and equipment didn't make it, because it didn't make it through customs because the shipping lady in my company put the wrong invoice in with the shipment. now she isn't with us any more.

so, after going over and over the issue with our new shipping lady, I find that my shipment didn't make it because - yes, the documents don't match the actual content of the box. how fucked up is that? who the **** does the same mistake that was made 6 months ago by the person who previosuly had the job?
