Agree here. 2011 M3 coupe with competition package. European delivery. No other options -- don't need Navi, cold weather (who drives an M3 in the winter?) and competition package gives you wheels and EDC. Cost ends up being mid 50s. The difference between a 55K M3 configured this way and a 75K M3 ends up being a compass, auto dimming mirrors, navigation, and a ski bag. None of which I give a **** about.

^ I think OP is gonna drive this car in the winter. (

) ps OP, you should really get your $55K rapidly depreciating asset plus a $3K 1993 Corolla to drive in the Boston winters, you'll literally save on insurance and keep your nice car in better condition, it's like having nice shoes vs bad day shoes. pps get an M3 in an individual color, like Daytona Violet II or Malachit Grun, it'll be worth more than the cost of the paint upgrade in the end.

So you can either have a $50k 3-series with a bunch of pointless options because you dont like to see unchecked boxes on order forms, or a $50k M3. durrr.

1.) m3 sedans are ******* hideious; 2.) I dont consider AWD, A/T, nav, heated/power seats, M styling, etc. pointless options... 3.) M3 coupe starts are $59k and with comp, heated seats, and nav ur looking at prob. $64k, 4.) I wouldnt be going anywhere with it in the winter so that would pose a problem.

I'd rather drive a nice car year round, hence the AWD, if I could afford having a "nice" seperate summer and winter car I would def. do so, however thats not an option atm. If it was I would be going for the M3.

On a side note, test drove the S4 today, it was very nice. However the 335 felt a little quicker to me even though it has 30 less hp. However it def. made the decision that much harder, it really is a beautiful car.

For winter driving, I'd think the S4 would be the better of the two. Both are terrific cars though.

each specifically made a point to claim they had the better AWD system, however I would also tend to think Audi may be a little better since they have been doing it forever.

Other options I was looking at was the G37 AWD coupe, X5, Q5, RR HSE sport

1. The coupe does look better, as coupes tend to do, but the sedan is far from hideous. If I had spawn and needed the extra accessibility I would consider one. 2. I do. Cold seats have never been an issue for me; autos, even the relatively 'good' one in the x35i, completely defeat the purpose of driving a fun car (I've had multiple loaner 135is and 335is and they all blew big bloody aids dick); on the rare occasion I dont know where Im going, my phone has google maps; and who the **** wants M 'styling' when you can have an actual M car? 3. Save for the comp package, this is more pointlessness. 4. I didnt address winter driving. But if youre not driving it in the winter, why do you need heated seats?

i still can't get over the prices you pay in the states, an similarly equipped model where i live is about double the price. for 41k you can't even get a 320 as equipped.

i would go for the individual colour rubinschwartz with the platin coloured leather interior with pianoblack gloss trim.

also, change the rear diffusor from the m pack to the one from the bmw performance pack.

Where do you live? And do wages in your country offset the price difference?

lol thats true. An M3 coupe here is 130k, an x6 120k, a 320 convertible 70k.

And everyone has one.

holland, and no, wages do not offset the price difference, and in general u.s wages would be higher compared to the nl one.

in holland in addition to the vat, for cars there is an extra tax (for that socialistic goodness =) ) called the bpm, which can be up to an additional 40% of the price before tax.

Exactly the same way it is here, and like the guy above, everybody has one here as well. Hardly any of them are M cars, or even 3.5L's - they're 320i's, 528i's, and 740i's, all steptronic, all arctic silver or black, sometimes white. Seeing an M car here happens as often as seeing a real sports car. BMW, MB, Audi, they're dumping their cars on the US market for next to nothing. Our price in the rest of the world: German price in Euros minus VAT, plus shipping and brokerage via local dealership network + local tax on imported cars (ours is 8%, which is not so bad) = total cost... but the Euro, even today, is so expensive that a 320i is literally $50K here, an M3 is $120K, Carrera 2's are like $130-140K - there's a real entry cost to owning a decent car and it is not cheap. Factor in $5/hour parkng everywhere, gas that costs double what it costs in the US, repairs that cost more with parts that cost more, it gets expensive. Wages are like 60% of what they are in the US; entry-level company workers make about $2K/month take home pay, doctors don't make much unless they're doing surgery or specializing in something. Rent hovers around $1000/month. Pretty easy to drop $2K/month on food and drinks if you have a social life/are heterosexual. **** be expensive.

well it looks like we will agree to disagree on alot of the stuff but the bottom line is that it will be a daily driver for me, meaning it will have to make its way through Northeast snow storms and 10 degree weather, so the heated seats and AWD are important to me. If it was solely a summer/fall car the M3 coupe would def. be my choice, but it is just not practical for winter. I have read some posts with people claiming they just put really good winter tires on the M3 and were fine but I think thats a load of BS.

unless you have to drive through a foot or so of snow and not flooring the gas all the time, i don't see why not.
