Like everything here, it's a matter of personal taste.

My disdain for everything crepe is legendary.

This won't change your mind, nor is it intended to, but this isn't exactly white.

Though it is spongy and, like any sole, often disgustingly dirty.

Where did you find this info, will they be like these LINK or Indy Boots?

I think the ease and usefulness of the speedhooks is over-rated on the indys. It's not much harder to get into them, and the few second trade-off is well worth it in terms of both looks and improved life of the laces. Also, I find the Alden speedhooks to feel kind of chintzy--they're not top-quality hardware. This becomes self-evident if you compare them to better speedhooks found on, say, a pair of vintage redwings.

Others, though, swear by the speedhooks. Fortunately, there are options for both camps.

Anyone know of a store in Vancouver or Toronto that stocks Alden Indy boots? And yes I know I can order through Leathersoul.....

I need to know what size to wear!

Both Alden's and some of the more dense white crepe soles (Church's, McNairy) are sweet. A good crepe sole shoe is can be very confortable and versatile.
