Not really. This is the time in your life when "write a book" makes sense. I've just finished two novels and I don't even speak English that fluently. There are many ways to make friends. For example, I started going to local religious services. Jews have all kind of events on Saturday and Christians offer free bagel and cofee on Sunday. On the weekdays, you can join a local shooting range to pass time after work. It's usually a bunch of very easy going guys out shooting $hit. Also, many martial art studios are offering very low rate for beginners. Take up Muay Thai or Tae Kwon Do if you're that out of shape. Also, if you make extra money, there's also the casinos and gentlemen's clubs. If you're dedicated, take up a hobby like RC, birdwatching, or ice skating. You're single, employed, how can life be boring? People have it much worse in my native land. There's nothing to do except the bloodsport of cricket fighting.
