I'm into this lately. Thoughts?

An example that immediately comes to mind is DDL:

As a fan of colors I hate this.

I've been seeing this around town lately and can't say I'm a fan. I feel that in many cases, the colored undershirt diverts your attention away from the more significant outer garment. That guy in the fair isle-esque blazer for example, the first thing I notice is the salmon undershirt when I should be in fact drawn to that knit.

My thoughts exactly. Undershirts are underwear.

In the pictures it looks like a nice way to add a pop of colour.

But there are better ways to add colour to a fit. Also i can't stand wearing undershirts. Even if it's freezing, i'd rather just add layers than have layers underneath. Unless i'm skiing.

I really just don't get you guys -- why should the undershirt be different than any other garment in providing an opportunity to add interesting color/texture to a fit? Who cares if undershirts are traditionally white and not visible? It seems like MC logic seeping into the SWD mindset.

Snake - Thanks for your opinion but that fit (which I love) would be a hundred times less interesting without the undershirt. Not only does the color itself work very well, but the visible undershirt gives a nice vertical symmetry of casual-ness with the dirty sneakers.

As long as the undershirt compliments the shirt, I think it's a good look (i.e. blue shirt w/ red and blue plaid shirt.)

I think it can look good.

In all the examples above, the undershirt was chosen specifically to add a pop of color to the outfit. Nothing wrong with that.

I think people have a knee-jerk reaction to the idea of visible undershirts because it's so poorly done in real life. Most men wear ratty white undershirts visible under their button-down shirts, and that does indeed look bad.

I like to do this sometimes.
