Everytime there's a sale my size disappears almost immediately. I'm size 10 in shoes, 42R in jackets, 36 in pants, and medium in tee-shirts, etc.

I was monitoring this nice wool trenchcoat at the Brooks Brothers sale and of course the 42R's disappear first!

Why don't stores stock up more common sizes?

Stop waiting for sales.

Your problem is far less of a problem than those of us for whom most OTR doesn't fit well at all.

When I am at NMLC, So5, etc the bulk of suits are 40-42, shoes 10-12, shirts 16-17, and pants 34-38. And of course a ton of XL+.

I would rather take a 40-42 suit and be able to fit into a traditional fit dress shirt. I'm stuck searching the stores/internet for slim fit and extra slim fit in 15.5 x 32. Plus, I have an addiction (much like most SF's!) to dress clothes. I just listed a Charles Tyrwhitt shirt on ebay that should have fit nicely from the size chart...only to have the sleeves too long

Funny you say that. I just made my first order from Modern Tailor last night, just one shirt on a fabric that was marked down for the weekly special. I'm excited to get it and hope it works out. I'm sure there is some trial and error, though. I took my best fitting shirt and copied the exact measurements.

Either way, that's just the nature of the beast.

I too am part of the average size Joe club so found OTR to be a bit of a minefield in that way. MTM/Bespoke has it's disadvantages as well so don't get me wrong (ex. lead times, costs, good tailor/crafter), but far more advantages than OTR in my opinion.

Amen. Somebody was whining about having 'short arm syndrome' in the thrift thread becuase they were regular and couldn't fit longs.

In the minds of most designers, us short and fit guys don't even exist.
