Double top button on suit jacket

Hi Everyone - I have seen suits where there is a second button added to the back of the top button on a suit jacket such that you can button the suit up so that the inside of the lapels are back to back and one does not overlap the other.

Does anyone know what this is called or have pictures?

Cheers.

Are you talking about a double breasted or single breasted suit?

I think he's describing a link closure.

No, he means on the back of the right lapel so you can "pop" the collar and fasten the button with the lapel button hole to give it a sort of "nehru" suit look. I have a Hugo Boss top coat that has this. The lapels have to be made in such a way that it is designed to do this. If you just put a button on the back of your right lapel and try to do it with anything it might not line up properly and with peaked lapels it wouldn't work at all, it would look a mess.

^ That's what I initially thought, but I'm pretty sure the other posters ahve hit the nail on the head.

Well he says "a second button added to the back of the top button" so that can't be the same thing?

This is what I thought he meant. I have jackets that have an attachment that will close the collar as well.
A link button is only used on a one-button jacket, so "top button" wouldn't make sense in that case.

I've seen it on what looked to be a military mess coat.

I'm sure someone mentioned this on another thread where that dinner jacket appears (maybe WAYWRN); the latest Etro advertising features a sports coat fastened in this way.
